History with its flickering lamp stumbles along the trail of the past, trying to reconstruct its scenes, to revive its echoes, and kindle with pale gleams the passion of former days. ~Winston Churchill

Ooh lovely, another great post. The crowds under the Arc de Triomphe, and the last picture of the silhouetted men are especially brilliant.

I have a great live news recording of the crowds celebrating in Piccadilly Circus on VJ Day - I work on Regent St so walk through there every day. Recently my iPod was on shuffle and popped on to this the very moment I set foot outside Piccadilly Circus tube station - pretty cool to hear the sound of the people celebrating over 60 years ago on that same spot!

Wow... that would really be something!! I love the things that can bring you right to a historical moment like that. I'll have to try it! :)

Those two are my favourites too-- I'd love to have the V-light one on my wall!

Thanks for visiting!
